Introduction


  1. This class is one of a series to help you prepare for a future as an HVAC Technician
  2. The position of HVAC Technician is demanding and requires a wide variety of skills
  3. There is a lot of material, which will require a time commitment FREQUENTLY

Classroom Activity


  1. Attend class on a regular basis and pay attention - No phone calls, music, jokes, chit-chat, etc.
  2. Be on time - you're in Training to be an HVAC Technician
  3. Take lots of notes - they will prove to be valuable resource in your future position
  4. Get the book as soon as possible
  5. Start your Homework early in the semester - this is a huge task - don't put it off

Lab Activity (Board Exercises Apply to 53)


  1. Safety First - no rings, watches or anything that might dangle onto your lab work
  2. Complete your lab assigmments as a 3-Person Group first, then individually
  3. If you can't afford your own board, buddy-up with someone who does have a board
  4. Practice the Board-Work at home - there are no Time Limits in your home

Study Time


  1. The key to "Getting It" is Study Time - and lots of it
  2. In general, 6 hours per week outside of class is recommended
  3. Make the most of your Study Time - keep distractions to a minimum
  4. Repetition-Repetition-Repetition is the key to success for HVAC material

Web-Site Material


  1. There is huge amount of information on the Web-Site
  2. It is divided into Presentation, Flash Cards and Quizzes
  3. Mix it up at a speed you can handle comfortably
  4. If you keep at it, it will "click" - it's a good feeling
